The Eli Lilly family gave their home, called Oldfields, a lovely old country estate, to the Indianapolis Museum of Art so they could build a modern art museum. It includes many acres of beautiful formal and natural gardens with a lovely canal running through it and is located on the edge of the White River. The subdued winter color along with the quiet presence of this majestic structure high above the canal was breath taking.
