"Voyageur Sailing the Wabash" (#168)

Voyageur Sailing the Wabash (#168) by Kathryn Clark, Oil, 14 x 11
  • Oil on canvas panel
  • 14" x 11"

I saw this Voyageur canoe sailing down the Wabash River during the fall Feast of the Hunter's Moon Festival at the site of old Fort Ouiotenon near West Lafayette, IN.    The Voyageur canoes come from all over the Midwest and Canada for this festival.  They are usually rowing in groups, and it was very unusual to see a canoe with a hand held sail lashed to limbs.  The afternoon sun provided spectacular reflective light.
